D ear F amilies,

H ello! Time is really flying; it’s hard to believe that the holidays are just around the corner.

W e have a busy month ahead of us. P arent conferences are coming up on the 28 th and we are looking forward to meeting with all of you to discuss your child’s progress thus far. (Note: Elementary students will be dismissed at 10:50 a.m. that day.) As a class, we are collecting items for Samaritan’s Purse, an organization that sends Christmas gifts to under-privileged children around the world, from Nov. 5-9 th. The children will be bringing home a list of supplies that they may contribute.

O ur second book report is due on the 1st; please be sure your child is reading his/her book for at least 15 minutes each night. In addition, please help your child study November’s Poem of the Month, as he/she will be asked to recite it in the coming weeks. In math, we are studying integers and the number line. Social studies will focus on learning the 47 countries of Europe and beginning our study of Egypt. In Language Arts, we will continue to work on grammar, writing skills, and reading strategies.

I n order to celebrate Veterans’ Day, please have your child dress in red, white and blue on November 7 th. For the Thanksgiving holiday, we will be writing poetry and discussing what we are thankful for. On that note, we wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!
