Congratulations to the WAJ Robotics Teams!
Two of the three WAJ robotics teams competed at the Fallsburg Spin Up tournament on Saturday, January 8th. Teams compete in seven qualifying matches to qualify for the single elimination tournament and battle for seeding. Teams must partner with other teams to form an alliance for the tournament. To do this students must communicate and cooperate with students from other schools to form a strong alliance.
Team 6527B, composed of Thomas Alberti, Jack Baldner, Payton Dempsey, Harrision Smith, and Matthew Weiman were ranked 11th out of twenty-four robots after the qualifying rounds. They performed well and battled to a hard fought 44 -24 victory amid tenacious defence to advance to the quarter finals of the tournament.
Team 6527A composed of Emma Drum, JP Klein, Charlie Mulholland, Devin Schlosser, Jacob Schwartz, and Ben Skilling played well in the qualifying rounds as well, finishing 13th. Playing in some highly competitive matches they made it to the semifinals, winning 65-54 in the round of 16, and 54-31 in the quarter finals. The Robot Warriors lost in the semifinals to the eventual tournament champions!
The Robot Warriors next tournament will take place February 4th at Kennedy Catholic Prep School. GO WARRIORS!
