Congratulations to the WAJ Varsity Boys and Girls Ski Teams, who will be competing at the New York State Alpine Skiing Championships at the end of February.
WAJ will be taking seven skiers to States: Piper Cohane, Sophia Dyjak, Erin Klein, Gianna Garzone, John Garzone, JP Klein, and Slade Tynan.
Both teams won the Delaware League team competition and the Section IV title, and Piper Cohane won the Section IV girls' individual overall title.
At the sectional competition, held at Belleayre Mountain on February 9th 2023, Piper finished first in Slalom and second in Giant Slalom. Sophia Dyjak finished first in Giant Slalom, and third in Slalom, and Erin Klein finished second in Slalom, and fourth in Giant Slalom. For the Varsity Boys, JP Klein finished second in Slalom, and John Garzone finished third in Giant Slalom.
