SPECIAL STATEMENT REGARDING MODIFIED 2019-20 SCHOOL CALENDAR

Remote Learning and Free Meal Availability Continue

By Executive Order of the NYS Governor, all public schools are required to provide remote learning during our previously scheduled spring break. WAJ teachers will be providing remote instruction next week. WAJ needs to capture all of those days in order to meet the new state instructional day requirements outlined by the state. The continuity and support teachers provide our students and families will be vital to our success as a district and for our students as individuals. It is important that students and families work to continue learning opportunities at home.

Remote learning will continue each day, Monday through Friday, except on April 10, 2020, Good Friday, where instruction will end by 11 AM in observance of this holiday. Please take the time to reflect on the blessings in your life.

Meal availability will continue as currently provided. Through a partnership with the Windham Community Food Pantry at the Hope Restoration Church, WAJ will be providing “Grab and Go” free bagged meals for distribution to WAJ students at their 117 Route 296 Windham location during the following hours of operation: Tuesday from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon, Thursday from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon and Saturday 9:00 AM-12 Noon.

Please contact WAJ School Counselor Nicole Baldner at nbaldner@wajcs.org or 508-314-9406 if you are interested in participating or have additional needs that we may be able to assist with.

Hours of operation and future meal distribution are subject to a number of variables and may change. Please refer to our webpage for modifications and updates to this program.

WAJ families in need of additional assistance with meals may want to access our other local food pantries for support as well. A list of these locations has been provided below. Please contact them directly for hours of operation and for any eligibility requirements.

We will continue to assess the evolving public health situation involving this virus and provide updates when appropriate.

Please be sure to follow the CDC and DOH guidelines for the prevention of contracting or spreading the virus and associated illness.

Thank you for your continued patience and support as we all work through this unprecedented situation.
